Borago by CCS
Borago, developed by Swedish dermatologists

hudlakareStudies at Södersjukhuset hospital in Stockholm have shown that children with cradle cap have an immaturity in one of the enzyme systems. This immaturity results in the child being deficient in the fatty acid GLA (gamma linolenic acid), which is important for the epidermis to function as a protective barrier.

Behind the discovery are senior lecturer Anders Frithz and dermatologist Anders Tollesson. The study has been published in the American Journal of Dermatology.

The cream Borago by CCS is based on borago oil – a natural oil extracted from the borage Borago Officinalis. The unique characteristic of borago oil is that it is rich in the fatty acid GLA, the same fatty acid that children with cradle cap are deficient in.
