Many babies get infantile seborrhoeic eczema, commonly known as cradle cap, on their scalps. Skin problems can also occur in babies in other parts of the body, for example around the nappy area.
New research has determined the cause of cradle cap and this has made the development of Borago by CCS possible. Borago is a product which focuses on the cause of cradle cap rather than just the symptoms.
Studies at Södersjukhuset (The Southern Hospital) in Stockholm have shown that infants with cradle cap are undeveloped in one of the enzyme systems. This leads to a deficiency of GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) which is important for the function of epidermis as a protective barrier.
